Case Study Site K

The hospital has around 500 beds providing acute care, serving a young and ethnically diverse population of over 350,000. It includes an A&E department, maternity unit, SCBU, ITU, as well as theatres for day surgery. The site will start deploying an integrated EPR system towards the end of 2013. The site has maintained a close collaboration in the customisation of the system with other sites deploying the same system. The project has been delayed several times, and is now running a year behind the go-live date initially anticipated. The hospital will in the first instance be going live with clinical documentation, and will be within the space of a month, or as soon as the system has stabilised, rolling-out ePrescribing and Medicines Administration. A final decision is still to be made on whether the system will go-live at once across the entire hospital, or whether there will be a rapid succession of live areas, and whether a dual system may need to be in place initially. Full Case Study Report coming soon.
