07 – Contracting

Although contracts are likely to vary depending on your system choice, needs and resources, there are some important points to remember:

  1. How will responsibilities be shared between the hospital and the supplier and how much support can the hospital expect to get? For example will the supplier provide a helpdesk or other form of implementation support?
  2. How will the relationship with the supplier be managed, and to what extent will the supplier be able to fulfil or go beyond its contractual obligations? Talking to other hospitals that have worked with the supplier will be helpful, and so too will clarifying expectations with the supplier.
  3. How closely will the supplier be involved during the implementation and optimisation of the system?
  4. What are the on-going system maintenance arrangements?
